Simon Bednar appointed CEO of Finsure

Mortgage aggregator Finsure Group has revamped its leadership structure after joining forces with investment giant MA Financial Group.

Finsure general manager Simon Bednar (pictured) will take over as CEO of Finsure from John Kolenda, who will be appointed managing director of strategy and growth – lending at MA Financial.

The changes follow MA Financial’s $145 million acquisition of Finsure and will prepare the aggregator for a new decade of growth after celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2021.

Kolenda is transitioning to a more strategic role to work closely with MA Financial to support several of its business verticals, whilst still heavily involved in strategically adding value to the third-party lending market.

“I am looking forward to the challenge of a new role, whilst at the same time, using this platform to continue my ongoing support of mortgage brokers,” Kolenda said.

“Simon will assume responsibility for the day-to-day management of Finsure while accelerating our growth agenda and providing additional value for our expanding broker network which now boasts more than 2,200 brokers.”

Kolenda said becoming Finsure CEO was a natural progression for Bednar who has been with the company from the beginning and has excelled in senior management roles with the group, including the last seven years as GM.

MA Financial has provided exciting opportunities for Finsure which last year was acknowledged as Aggregator of the Year at the Australian Mortgage Awards.

“Finsure is uniquely positioned as a scalable, technology-enabled platform with a differentiated service proposition to become one of the most powerful pieces of financial infrastructure in the Australian residential mortgage market,” Kolenda said.

“MA Financial can support Finsure in this journey through its access to capital, credit and lending capabilities and technology expertise.”

Finsure’s new CEO Simon Bednar joined Finsure in Victoria in 2011 as the state’s business manager and has played a key role in the groups development.

“I am delighted to now become CEO of Finsure and I am excited about the future for the Group as we head into our second decade,” Bednar said.
